I was on a plane, flying to a church that had hired me to do a Secret Sunday Guest Review — a service I provide where I visit as a guest and experience their site the same way a first-time visitor would.
Before I landed, I did what any visitor does first: I pulled up their website.
Broken links. An event from months ago still on the homepage. A button that went nowhere.
These were good people doing their best — but nobody inside the building could see what I was seeing from the outside. I thought: how many churches are losing people before they ever walk through the door, and don't even know it?
My name is Tommy Carreras. My main work is Climbing the Assimilayas — I help churches build the kind of connection culture where guests don't just attend, they stay, serve, and grow. I've spent years studying why people quietly disappear from churches, and how to stop it.
A confusing or broken website is often where the disappearing starts. Most churches can't see it because they're too close to it.
WebWatch is my small but mighty answer to that.
